Shawn Conerton (left with guitar) is joined by Rob Delgado in the Kris Allen song 'Live Like We're Dying' during a MWAH! all-school assembly on November 8, 2010 at Freedom Middle School in Berwyn, Illinois. The song focused on the importance of making the most of each day and followed several true stories of teenagers whose lives ended too soon.

During a recent MWAH! performance at Princeton High School, Shawn Conerton of Magnolia stands next to an enlarged photo of Arie Boggio, a friend of his from Putnam County who committed suicide in 2010. Boggio had a heart of gold, according to Conerton, who says the day she died was one of the worst days of his life. More in the News article from 04/20/2011 here.

My school / year in school: Putnam County High School in Granville, Illinois / Junior

My favorite subject in school and why: Art because I love drawing. It’s just relaxing.

My favorite food: I’m a big bread guy. I love any type of bread, especially with peanut butter. I also love spicy foods — the spicier, the better.

My favorite TV show: Tom and Jerry!!

My favorite actress or actor: Steve Buscemi

My favorite musical artists or groups: Ohhhh there so many to list, but my all time favorite has to be Nirvana. I know almost everything about them and I own all of their CDs and almost all of their DVDs.

My hobbies: one — my guitar. It almost never leaves my hands.

My personal hero or heroes and why: My grandfather, whose name is Vern. He’s the most experienced man I know.

What you’d probably find in my CD player or iPod: I won’t list all of them, but a few of the main ones are Nirvana, Seven Mary Three, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Counting Crows, Johnny Cash, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Pretty much 60’s through 90’s rock. I don’t look the part, but I’m a true rocker at heart.

What you’d probably find under my bed: I actually had to look for this one. Really nothing there but clothes that got accidently kicked under there.

Most of my time on the computer is spent: On ultimate-guitar.com for guitar tabs and on Facebook, but I’m seldom on the computer.

In my free time I: Hang out with friends and play my guitar.

The best day I ever had so far: When MWAH! accepted me into their troupe.

The worst day I ever had so far: When a friend of mine, Arie Boggio, passed away.

What makes me laugh: Just about anything.

What makes me mad: Nothing really. It takes a lot to make me angry. I’m a lover, not a fighter.

My proudest moment so far: Not moment, but moments. Every time at school when people feel comfortable enough to talk to me about their problems.

One thing I simply can’t stand: PICKLES!

One thing I’d like to change about myself: My eyelashes. They’re so long that I can’t wear certain types of sunglasses. And I wish I were taller.

Fifteen years from now I want to: ... to be completely honest, I don’t care as long as I have my music.

The reason I want to is: Music is with me whenever I’m sad or happy or just need to vent.  It just chills me!

The three words that best describe me: I am myself.
